Co-Hosted by: Schona Christie & Char Sundust

This four-weekend course, is an offering for those who wish to deepen, expand, and strengthen their mentoring and leadership skills. There are those of us who are called to lead, or even are directly asked, but we just don’t believe in our leadership abilities. There are those of us in leadership positions who want to lead well, love well, and learn well.

Leadership and mentorship, like any work in the world, have their risks and blessings. As mentors and leaders, we have the holy privilege to collaborate on addressing the spiritual, relational, and professional wisdom of an individual, organization, family, or community. This course invites participants to reclaim leadership and mentorship as acts of empowerment and liberation by uplifting one another while dismantling the patterns of domination and hierarchy that often shape how we lead and follow.

In The Tao of Leadership, author John Heider says, “We mentor someone when what we have to offer meets the needs of someone else.” We all have gifts and experiences that have given us a way to give clarity and perspective to those who ask. In this program, we explore how those gifts can be offered in ways that empower rather than control, that honor rather than impose, and that foster growth grounded in mutual respect and decolonized practices.

This program offers instruction in the Do’s and Don’ts of mentoring; passion and compassion in leadership; practice ethics; the guiding questions of the mentor; roles and ground-rules of the mentor/mentee relationship; strengthening and deepening the talents of the mentee; and bringing leadership skills home in a way where everybody wins.

Participants will also examine the ways in which cultural conditioning and internalized systems can limit authentic expression, while learning how to replace those patterns with collaboration, humility, relational harmony, and courage. Participants will be empowered to embody leadership as a sacred and liberating act, one that restores balance, inspires authenticity, and strengthens the collective.

It is a great honor to be both a mentor and a mentee, to share the good things in life, and to be a guide through the currents of challenge and the stillness of love. It is a great gift with clear requirements.
